Maskulinistic.com - Do you still remember when you were in school at the elementary level, that is, in drawing or fine arts, we have learned about the basics of color?
Basic Knowledge of Colors |
I myself although I can't really draw, but I really like when I learn about color.
This article reviews basic colors, which may be very boring for some people. But to be able and adept at matching the color of clothing, we must learn it.
Look at the color wheel image above. As we know, there are 3 primary / primary colors, namely red, yellow and blue. If these three colors are set the level of darkness, the other colors will be generated. We can also see that black is the maximum level of darkness of any color.
If we mix 2 primary colors, secondary colors will be produced.
Example:
- Red + Yellow = Orange
- Blue + Yellow = Green
- Red + Blue = Purple
Then, if we set these three secondary colors in the darkness, other colors will be generated.
There is another called tertiary color, which is when secondary colors are mixed with one primary color next to it from the color wheel.
Example:
- Green + Blue or Yellow = Blue-Green or Yellow-Green
- Orange + Red or Yellow = Red-Orange or Yellow-Orange
- Purple + Red or Blue = Red-Purple or Blue-Purple
By mixing and adjusting the level of darkness, this is where the colors in the universe are produced.
Primary and secondary colors adjacent to the color wheel are analogous to each other.
- Analog color from Blue = Green and Purple
- Analog color from Orange = Red and Yellow
In dressing, analog colors can be combined as long as the level of darkness is the same. So you can wear a green shirt with a blue blazer or jacket. But remember, as in the article choosing clothes, we men don't wear brightly colored pants.
Then there are what are called complementary colors, namely primary colors with secondary colors that cross each other in the color wheel above.
- Compliment blue to orange.
- Complementary purple to yellow.
- Red against green, and so on.
Wearing complementary colors can give the impression that you are confident and brave. But be careful when combining this color, because there are certain colors that look not suitable to be combined.

We can wear the same color but with a different level of darkness, for example a red hearted shirt with a bright red tie. Combining this color can produce a monochromatic effect.
Finally, of course you can combine white or black with any color.
