  • Triglycerides. Triglycerides are one type of fat in the blood that the body needs to convert into energy. High triglyceride levels increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Normally, total cholesterol levels in the body should be below 200 mg / dl. A person is considered to have high cholesterol if:
  • Total cholesterol ≥ 200 mg / dl
  • LDL cholesterol ≥ 100 mg / dl
  • Triglycerides ≥ 150 mg / dl
  • HDL cholesterol <40 mg / dl

Why check cholesterol?
